How to prevent breast cancer, whether you’ve never had it, or are trying to prevent a reoccurrence.
We’re going beyond the typical “avoid parabens and phthalates” in this video. We’re also not talking about early detection here, like self checks and mammograms. There’s something far more important that you can do to actually prevent breast cancer.
When I was pregnant with my youngest, I was very sick. The only food I could keep down was sweet bready things… so I ate a LOT of donuts and Toaster Strudels. I had no idea how much of an impact that diet would have on my life, and not because of the high sugar content.
In the Standard American Diet, aka SAD, we are creating the perfect breeding ground for cancer cells. The SAD diet is highly acidic, and loaded with sugar… cancer’s favorite food. But there’s another problem that’s caused by the SAD diet, that combined with the sugar, makes us highly susceptible to breast cancer.
The good news, is that this problem is very easy to rectify… it’s just that no one is really talking about it… yet.
How To Prevent Breast Cancer – The Most Important Thing You Can Do
Soon after my youngest child was born, I discovered a lump in my left breast. I assumed it was from breast feeding, and didn’t worry too much about it. My intention was to keep checking it every month, to see if it moved, or stayed in the same place. If it moved, that was good, and likely from nursing my little guy. If it stayed in the same spot, I’d get it checked out.
Then I forgot about it.
I’m small… very small chested, with no family history of breast cancer. And I nursed both my kids. I figured I was very low risk for getting breast cancer. I just didn’t think it was very important to keep an eye on that lump, especially while breast feeding.
Looking back, I wish I’d thought to circle that lump with a non-toxic marker, take a photo, then compare the next week or month. (If you’re pregnant, or nursing, and discover a lump and can’t get it checked out with a mammogram due to your current state, DO THIS. Do it every day, or at the very least, every week, to keep track of any lumps!)
A year after I battled breast cancer, I mentioned to my Naturopath Oncologist my theory for how I got breast cancer. I told him I thought my horrible diet during pregnancy, caused constipation, that prevented my body from effectively eliminating all the hormones coursing through it due to pregnancy. I was also still using regular skin care products, loaded with parabens, and we hadn’t yet detoxed the house to get rid of unwanted phthalates.
My Doctor thought it was a viable theory, and advised that I make sure I never get constipated again. Now that I’ve already had breast cancer once, we know my body is somewhat prone to getting it again.
