It’s that time of year again!  The McDonald’s Shamrock Shake is back.  But do you know what’s really in that Shamrock Shake?

Notice the banned ingredients?  Studies have shown that AFCs (Artificial Food Colors) have caused adverse behavioral reactions such as hyperactivity and immune reactive disorders.   SOURCE and SOURCE   Not to mention all those other ingredients, and the problems that have been associated with them.

It’s time for a better option, that’s still tasty, and is even a super nutrient dense, protein packed, meal replacement smoothie!

I’ve got a recipe for a HEALTHY SHAMROCK SHAKE, that’s going to knock your socks off!

INGREDIENTS:
2 scoops, or one packet of Shaklee Life Vanilla (protein and probiotic shake mix)
1 cup fresh spinach (you actually get a serving of greens with my recipe!)
4 oz organic vanilla yogurt (yes, I stole my 5 yr old’s yogurt for this recipe)
1/2 tsp peppermint extract (LOVE the one from Trader Joe’s!)
8oz milk of choice
Optional:
Stevia to taste (I don’t think it needs sweetener)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Combine ingredients in the blender.  Enjoy!

No food coloring needed. The spinach makes it green!

Calories: 367  (compared to 820 for the McDonald’s Shamrock Shake)
Total Fat: 7g (compared to 23)
Fiber: 6g (compared to 0)
Sugars: 34g (compared to 115)
Protein (organic, Non-GMO): 30g  (compared to 18)

More than 80% USRDA Vitamin A, Calcium.  75% USRDA Vitamin C.  And 25% USRDA Iron.
High in Folate, Vitamin B12, Biotin, Magnesium, Vitamin D, and 14 other essential vitamins and minerals.

And did I mention, mine is actually YUMMY and FILLING?  It’s a Super healthy, nutrient dense MEAL!  This is the protein I need every day, to give me energy and strength to battle MS.  It contains leucine, the amino acid we need for building lean muscle.  That helps preserve and give strength to muscles weakened by multiple sclerosis.
