Fun Science Experiment For Kids – Baking Soda & Vinegar Ice

Vinegar Ice Cubes And Baking Soda Fun!

Pour plain white vinegar into an ice cube mold.  I like this one because it’s easy to hold onto the ice and “draw” with it.

Sprinkle some baking soda into a shallow dish.  I used 2 pie plates, one for each kid.

I gave them each a couple of the vinegar ice sticks and let them play.

My 2 yr old thought these were popsicles and quickly took a bite!  He was not impressed and promptly spat it out.  You may want to warn your kids before taking the ice out of the mold.

As the vinegar ice started to melt it got fizzy!

If the house was warmer I think this would have worked better, so to speed up the process I added a little water.  We’ll try this again next summer, but it was still super fun!

They loved getting their hands in there, feeling the fizz and playing with the cold ice.
